Bye bye dummy

Ruby and I went to one of her her friend Tyler's second birthday party a few weeks ago. It was held at one of those stuff the animal/bear places which was lots of fun for the kids. As our party favor/entertainment, each mom/kid was able to choose an animal and an outfit to stuff (we chose a zebra and a bumblebee tutu outfit).

We've been trying to break Ruby's addiction to her pacifier (or dummy as they call them in the UK) for quite some time now. After trying a few tactics unsuccessfully we were open to trying anything else! I read online that sometimes moms let the kids put the pacifiers into the stuff the animal/bear things and say goodbye to them that way. Well, we tried it and IT WORKED! Ruby asked for it several times and we kept telling her the zebra ate it and that she could feel it in the zebras tummy if she wanted to. We keep the zebra in her bed. It only took one night of a little crying and then it was smooth from then on. The zebra is not shown any affection really (probably because it was the evil thing that ate her pacifier!), but it stays in her bed for reassurance. I am really happy to be past this and not have to worry about the pacifier affecting her teeth! Bye bye dummy, and onto potty training next.
