First backyard swim

It has been pretty warm lately so I got out the pool for Ruby's first swim. Luckily her favorite red bathing suit from last summer still fits!

RED

Ruby loves red. For the past several months she has become increasingly interested in the color. We have red shoes (she always wants to wear those, and no others), red fingernails, a red ball, red sunglasses, etc. etc. Red crayons are selected for every coloring session. She likes red jellybeans best. Ruby only wants to wear the red ponytail holders in her hair. Anytime there is a red something, she prefers that one.

Roundtop and Austin

We took a roadtrip and met my parents in Roundtop, Tx for their famous antiques fair.

Ruby loved looking at all the treasures. People loved her pigtails and gave her all kinds of knick knacks from their booths.

My mom and dad had time to snuggle Ruby and Graham.

Such a nice way to enjoy the spring weather!

Then, we drove to Austin to visit my brother, Preston, and his wife, Camlin. We enjoyed a delicious meal at Hula Hut. Graham got to go swimming for the first time in the hotel pool.

He loved it!

It was nice seeing my parents and spending part of Easter with them, but roadtrips with 2 little ones is tough!

Fun with daddy in the backyard

One of my favorite parts of the day is when Alex finishes work for the day and comes to play with us before dinner. Since the weather has been so nice we are often swinging or playing in the backyard. Here is daddy enjoying the spring weather with the kiddos.

Graham is 5 months old

Graham is 5 months old. He is always smiling and laughing. When we are out, people comment that he is such a happy baby. He is, except during some recent teething.

After much drooling and hand knawing, two teeth have poked through. Teething made him a bit grumpy in the evenings, but luckily didn't interrupt his sleep at all.

He eats around 6 oz. every 3 hours and sleeps for 11-12 hours at night. We still rely on our swing to lull him into a deep sleep before bedtime.

Graham is already wearing mostly 12 month and 18 month clothes.

He is making all kinds of noises and loves to 'sing' for us.

Favorite activities include knocking over towers of blocks that mama builds, chewing on plastic rings, laying under the trees on a blanket, pulling his feet up to his mouth, being carried in the baby Bjorn, and bouncing in the jumperoo. He grabs everything and is especially good at grabbing handfuls of mama hair.

He watches Ruby with the sweetest, adoring eyes and laughs when she jumps or plays peekabo.

He isn't interested in tummy time or rolling but can occasionally 'sit' for a few seconds before faceplanting into the ground.

Easter Festival

After Ruby's haircut, we went to a local Easter festival. She got to meet the Easter bunny. And have her very own cotton candy.

Ruby did really well at the egg scramble. She was super fast!

As usual, Graham was all smiles!

Ruby's first haircut

Ruby's hair is finally coming in, but often looks like a scraggly mullet. So, we took her fir her first trim a few weeks ago. To mark the special occasion we went to a really girly salon that specializes in kids' cuts. She was a bit nervous, but loved the part at the end when she got to have glitter stars painted on her face!

Easter Egg Hunt at Ruby's House

Ruby and I hosted an Easter Egg hunt at our house for our neighborhood friends. We had beautiful weather for finding nearly 150 eggs scattered around the back yard. What fun!

Bluebonnets 2012

Ruby and I visited our favorite bluebonnet spot with friends the first week in April.
