Festive trip to the Galleria

Earlier this week Alex's mom joined Ruby and me on our annual festive trip to the Galleria.

We walked through a few shops and met Annette, Matias and Sofia for a short while. The three of us also enjoyed lunch at La Madeleine.

We checked out the HUGE tree and watched the ice skaters.

And Ruby got yet another photo with Santa at the Nordstroms. (I made her this dress too!)

Christmas tree farm visit

Ruby and I went to a local Christmas tree farm for a walk around.

She was especially fond of the farm cat that followed us for a bit.

They had all kinds of fun decorations out and Ruby enjoyed exploring!

Warm December day at the zoo

I'm so glad I got a zoo membership. We have been so often and Ruby loves the animals!

It was an especially warm December day (I think it was in the upper 70s) so we met Lori, Maddie, Cuyler and Jax at the zoo!

Maddie shared her wagon with Ruby.

The fish are always a bit hit!

Newern Christmas Party

Last weekend we went to a fun party at the Newberns (a friend from our playgroup). They invited a Santa to come and read 'The night before Christmas' (so cozy with the tree and fireplace!) and take pictures with the kids.

We had such a nice time!

Visiting Santa at the Bass Pro Shop

I'm so glad there are so many fun and festive things to do this time of year. The Bass Pro shop decorates their store really neat and there is a carousel and free pictures with Santa. Ruby and I met some friends there a week or so ago!

As of today Ruby has sat on 5 Santa's laps this season! She is curious and cautious, but not scared like I thought she might be.

Christmas lights are so exciting!

Riding the reindeer carousel with mama!

Looking at all the fish with her friend Matias (2).

Winter Wonderland at the Gaylord Texan

A few weeks ago Ruby and I met Lori, Maddie, Annette, Matias and Sofia at the Gaylord Texan for a walk around their Winter Wonderland! They had beautiful scenery including a sled and trees where we could take some cute pics!

Daddy cozy by the fire

Here's a pic of Alex watching tv, relaxing by the fireplace and the tree. So cozy!

Ruby is now 19 months old!

Ruby is now 19 months old.

I have now reached the point where it is hard to keep up…with this blog…with all of Ruby’s fun outings and playdates…with Ruby’s fast little feet…with all the new things she is learning how to do each day!

Over the last few months Ruby’s vocabulary has grown amazingly. She is now getting really good at copying most all words we say. I can't keep up with all her new words, but recent additions include 'hot dog' (as learned on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse), cupcake (which can refer to anything from cakes to blueberry muffins…anything in that shape really), chicken, heart, tunnel, button, bite (as in can I have a bite of whatever you are eating, mom?), house, phone, cook, snowman, and nutcracker (just in time for the holidays!). Daddy taught her how to say ‘please’ and just the other day at a playdate I observed Ruby saying please to another toddler asking for the toy he had. So sweet.

A few other interesting concepts she has learned include… ‘stuck’ which can apply to anything from Ruby being stuck/buckled into her highchair, a baby being ‘stuck’ in its package at the store, or a door which is ‘stuck’ (locked keeping Ruby from getting in a room). My other favorite is ‘me-out’ which Ruby uses when she wants out of a highchair, swing, shopping cart, etc. Recently I have started letting her cook with me and I sometimes let her shake spices into whatever we are making, so now she says ‘shake it.’

I don’t have any precise weight or height measurements, but all I can say is this girl is growing! Her long legs have outgrown pants that I bought her only a month or so ago. She went through a skinny phase, but now she is getting a cute little pot belly. Her eyes are still blue, and she is still the baldest toddler I know.

She is really open to trying new foods and recent favorites include mama’s Starbucks French roast coffee (just a few sips), flaming hot cheetos (she sneakily grabbed some from my plate and thought they were the best thing ever), pizza, sloppy joes, blueberry muffins, apple juice, dried apples, and steamed baby carrots. And since it is Christmas Ruby has had the chance to sample a few bits of candy here and there!

(I made her this dress!)

Playgroup Christmas Party

Angie and Lori hosted a fantastic Christmas party this past week. Santa made an appearance (Ruby was skeptical...not too interested in getting closer!)

I sewed this dress for her...

She got to play with all her friends...

And decorate a gingerbread house!

Ruby and Daddy

Ruby is so lucky to have a fun daddy!

He's great at wrestling...

Ruby loves her daddy.

New stockings for the fireplace

We bought some new matching Christmas stockings.

So far Ruby doesn't seem too interested in taking them down.

Keep Calm and Carry On

I recently bought the picture hanging on the wall in the hallway behind Ruby.

Gingerbread man decorating at Ruby's house

I hosted a gingerbread man decorating party for some of Ruby's friends. I baked the cookies and the moms brought over different toppings.

Ruby enjoyed the m&ms and gumdrops especially!

Matias and Ruby working hard on their creations.

Ruby's gingerbread man.

Jingle Bells!

Ruby loves jingle bells...the song and the chime of the bells! We've been singing it lately...I had to get her this cute top!

Doesn't it just look like she is singing it in the picture!

Ruby and Roman Reunited at Ava's birthday party

Ruby was invited to Ava's birthday party at Gymboree recently.
She had so much fun playing on all the equipment!

Catching bubbles with the birthday girl...

And Ruby was reunited with her old London pal, Roman, who was in town visiting!

Alex and I also got to catch up with Brenda... Such a fun party!

A few dresses I have sewn

Lately I have been practicing sewing. I made Ruby a few short sleeve dresses (I drew and edited a pattern over time). They have elastic necks which makes them super easy to put on!

I love the sewing machine Alex gave me for my birthday!

Ruby at the park

The weather is so unpredictable in November and December. Recently we had a warm afternoon so we headed to our favorite local park! Ruby climbs and loves to slide.

Ruby and Matias

Annette and her son Matias (2) came over to play. Ruby and Matias enjoyed being outside.

And had a nice macaroni and cheese lunch.

I'm so glad I get to spend time with Annette who is on maternity leave with her newborn!
