Our first week in the new house

We have now been living in our new house for a week. Each night after Ruby has gone to bed we've been unpacking and putting up curtain rods, etc. So far, everything is slowly coming together and it is feeling more like home. (Thanks again to Sakari for helping with the move!)

At first I think Ruby was a bit out of sorts in her new place, but as the days go on, she is getting bolder and bolder about exploring and getting into things! Since we were living in a one story house before, we are adjusting to Ruby sleeping further away and having baby gates on the stairs. But, it is nice having a spacious gameroom upstairs to put her oodles of baby entertainment contraptions!

Alex has been working out in the yard a lot, putting in mulch, pruning trees and mowing. We have discovered lots of wildlife. There were two bird nests in the yard, lots of birds, and we have seen rabbits on three occasions. Down the street one of our neighbors has some kind of tropical birds that make all kinds of neat noises.

We really like our neighborhood. There are lots of young families - kids riding bikes, girls selling girl scout cookies, sounds of kids playing in their backyards. Last weekend we had took part in our neighborhood garage sale and met a few of our neighbors. There are some good walking trails and a small fishing lake and park we can walk to in less than 10 minutes. One night we went out for a walk and passed some couples with babies. They were so nice and ended up inviting us to a bbq at their house this past Saturday. It was such a nice welcome into the neighborhood.
