More playdate fun

Our Gymboree group has a playgroup that meets pretty regularly. Here are the pics from this past week.

Ruby and her friend Thomas share a book.

Laundry room entertainment

While I put stuff in the washer or transfer stuff to the dryer, these puppet things keep Ruby entertained. I have to pull all the strings and then she squirms to try to reach them from her Bumbo seat. Growing up I remember my Mamaw having several of these on the wall in her kitchen. I am on the lookout for more to add to the collection.

Gun show and stockyards

This past weekend we went to the Fort Worth gun show (there was nothing else going on and we thought it would be good people watching). Lately I have been missing London and all the random entertainment there is - markets, festivals, shows, unvisited neighborhoods and museums, train daytrips, etc!

Alex looking at the machine-guns.

Afterwards since we were nearby, we went to the stockyards.

Ruby got to see all the western stuff - including horses!
.

What a Texas-themed Saturday outing (I even wore my boots)!

New Years Eve

I was so looking forward to New Years Eve. Annette and Sakari had invited us over for fondue at their place. But...Ruby was feeling unwell for most of the day, had stopped eating normally, was very lothargic, coughing and then started running a high temperature. So, we cancelled our plans and because the pediatrician was closed, we went to an after hours clinic to see what was wrong with Ruby. She had two ear infections and a respiratory infection, and so got an antibiotic. I'm sure she just felt awful and it was horrible that there wasn't much we could do to make her feel better. That night was the worst sleep Alex and I have had since she was born. I think having a sick baby is almost harder than having a newborn baby!

Here's Ruby enjoying the bed paper at the clinic...you would hardly even know she was sick then, as she was in heaven tearing it apart!

And then looking droopy on New Years Day...

Ruby and Roman Reunited

My London friend Brenda, her husband Matt and son Roman were in Dallas visiting family. They came over for lunch and a playdate at our house. So, Ruby and Roman were reunited (they're a few weeks apart in age and were friends in London). I'm so glad we were able to visit and also meet Brenda's sister, Carla.

Ruby tries raw oysters!

Just kidding! But Alex and I had some fantastic ones for lunch one day last week!

Cute as a Cupcake

Kate gave Ruby this adorable hat for Christmas. Doesn't she look cute? (thanks Kate!)
